Take a look below to see more photos of
our two-legged and four-legged students!
Left: Mike is giving Turbo his
command to lay down.
Mike has a book from a
nineteenth century cavalry
manual that advocates teaching
your horse to lay down to be used
as a shield against enemy fire
during a battle.
Although Mike isn't expecting
to come under enemy fire any
time soon.  Nevertheless we
thought it would be a cool trick
to teach regardless.
It is fun to ride him back up
too.  There are quite a few
handicapped people who have
their horses trained this way
so that they still can have the
freedom of riding without
always having to ask for help.
We sure get a lot of attention
when we do this out in public!
People usually become
alarmed when a horse lays
down!
Mike points his finger at Turbo
and says "Bang your dead!"
"I don't want to get up now
Dad! You killed me, I'm
supposed to be dead!"
Turbo is back up on his feet.
We did this trick one time in an
arena full of about 200 riders
during a thunderstorm right
after he got off a three hour
trailer ride.  Unbelieveable!
