We understand that just because you may need help with horses, doesn't mean that you are a beginner. It is reported that eighty percent of people who get into horses get out within the first year; and two-thirds of the remaining twenty percent get out in the next five years. They do so because of: Fear, Frustration, Feeling like a Failure, Lack of Fun, Lack of Funds Not all of the above people were beginners either! Did you grow up with horses? Did you win high level shows? Have you gone on extensive trail rides, summer horse camps or have you worked at a barn for awhile? Or have you already taken riding lessons for years? We have found that a lot of people who are having trouble with horses have actually had a lot of experience with them. (See testimonial below) Sometimes just a lack of a few key things can cause a plethora of problems. We understand and our goal is to work with you on your own level to help you have an enjoyable and successful future with your horse. Our goal is for you to like your horse and to be able to look forward to riding it without fear or anxiety. 100% of the people that M-Bar-K Farms has assisted in getting started in horses are still in it today! | Tricia helps another Non-Beginner May 11, 2006 We received this letter from a non-beginner on March 15, 2006 (We have had to edit out some non-pertinent parts of her letters in the interest of brevity) “Have a problem with my horse. I have ridden many years and purchased a barely broke 3 year old TWH. (Tennessee Walking Horse) Now at 5, I'm training her under the supervison of another trainer with over 30 years experience, but we have an issue we can't solve. Mare was purchased with this problem but it appeared to be very minor at the time and nothing is working to correct it. Mare will blast through aids with a shouldering out problem when not allowed to go where she wants to go. No amount of leg or rein can stop her from crabbing sideways at break neck speed in the direction she wants to go. She literaly BLASTS through the rider's aids very fast sideways (jack knifed) running in the opposite direction then her head is facing. My trainer has only been able to break one horse in all her years that had a problem like this and that horse didn't have it as bad as mine. Do you think this is something you would be able to help with? Please let me know if it is a problem you think you can help me with. I would like to have someone come to my place to work with us. It won't help me if I don't know how to fix the problem along with the trainer.” We wrote her back the same day and told her about Tricia. She was skeptical that a young girl could help her when a trainer with 30 years experience had not been able to. But she was willing to try anything at this point. She was located over 50 miles from us. Tricia went to her facility a few weeks later and worked with horse and rider for two hours getting very good results. This lady was very happy when we left, but we didn’t hear from her for awhile. So we emailed her on May 11, 2006 to see how things went after her lesson with Tricia and this is what she wrote: “Hi Kasey, Our session with your daughter fixed the shouldering out problem. Not sure why or really how but I have not had Cassie try that trick again since that day. I'm able to keep control of her shoulder and do beautiful turns without a bend in her neck or body. We are now doing turn on the haunch and forehand without any issues. Her shoulder isn't popping out. My trainer pitched a fit with regards to the bit I got from Tricia and I stopped using it during my lessons with her. But true to Tricia's word, using that bit for awhile did fix my problem regardless of what my trainer said. Going back to the snaffle ring afterwards has gone much better because of it. It got her attention and now she is behaving very well. I'm able to leave the round pen and go in the pasture along with the new horse I got for my husband. I'm able to ride her on a lose rein now and she is behaving well. Not to say we don't have "discussions" from time to time about where we are going but they are easy to nip in the bud. So, I'm very pleased with the effect Tricia had on Cassie and the insight I got about her. I am actually discontinuing with my current trainer because we disagree too much over how to proceed with Cassie. Other than that I"m overall happy with her and moving forward. Thanks! Trudy” |
| December 29, 2005 Another Happy Customer Writes Tricia a Testimonial! This was a case where a non-beginner was having a lot of trouble with her horse. Since she had had three years of riding lessons at the barn she boards at, she thought she could deal with this horse herself. She decided that she needed help after the horse bolted and threw her into a fence where she broke her arm. Her mother was wanting to know if they should sell this horse. After just a two hour session with Tricia, she was able to find several problems that this horse and rider were having and by just working on those issues the horse was just transformed. Here is what her mother wrote to us just two days after this lesson: "Kasey, Let me first say that Tricia has made a world of difference in (her daughter's) horse after 1 two hour training session. He has been excellent that last two days of riding and handling. We look forward with great anticipation for her training session next week. Thank you" We feel that with just two more two hour lessons with the horse and rider, these problems will be well behind these two. |
