Dodge is a delight to have.  He is put together well and has a lot of personality.
He should make an awesome barrel horse as well as be suitable for
English/Hunter Jumper.

Update: 4/2/08 Tricia, working with a top level trainer over the last two
months, has been  finishing Dodge's barrel training.  See new video
below!
Our students are amazed when we tell them that he is a stallion.  Very
quiet ground manners as well as docile and obedient.  Dodge had barely been
handled when we brought him home as a yearling colt.  It took four people just
to get him into our trailer.  Now he just hops right in.    Dodge is a registered
Breeding Stock Paint, which are becoming very popular to paint breeders right
now trying to improve their color, markings and lines.  His
grandsires on both
sides are champions, Moon Lark (half brother to Bugs Alive in 75), and Special
Effort (sire of Bully Bullion). Both champions, They go back to Top Moon, Moon
Deck, Top Deck, Native Dancer! Plus Many Many more awesome horses, most
still on his papers! You get the picture! This colt is outstanding in his breeding!
Not much breeding left like this. We will be keeping him a stallion, but as sweet
as this little horse is, we don't see him being any trouble to turn into an
awesome barrel horse.

Since Dodge is 7/8 quarter horse, but registered as a paint this is a good way
for paint breeders to improve bloodlines without having to breed to a quarter
horse, educated breeders know he would be ideal to breed to homozygous
tobiano mares, or overo/tovero mares that are throwing foals with a lot of white.
He will be able to add in the color, markings and the breeding, without throwing
a solid paint, as you would more then likely get breeding to a registered Quarter
Horse.
Tricia has had Dodge under saddle for two weeks (click on

Dodge has turned out
to be so docile,
well-behaved and
gentle that we decided
to start using this
THREE-YEAR-OLD

STALLION for lessons
for adults who
understand what a
stallion is.  (See photos
below)
Above:  Tricia is
working on Candy's
seat today so Candy is
using a bareback pad
with no stirrups.  This
could not be done on a
horse that was not very
well trained.

instruction.
Above: Candy is doing
great so we let her ride
around on her own a
little.  Candy said she
learned a lot today and
that she could not wait
to come to her lesson
next week.
Above:  We have been
hearing from our
students that some
people think we are
crazy for using young
horses like this in
lessons.  What most
people don't
understand is that we
train our own horses.
Most instructors do not
have the ability to do
this.  They buy horses
from other people and
they just have to take
what they get.  Our
horses are our best
advertisers as to our
training abilities here at
M-Bar-K Farms.  We
enjoy teaching others to
have the most
enjoyable experience
possible with their
horses no matter what
age or sex.
